Our Fundraising Committee recently reminded us that our Meeting has taken on a new campaign – to raise funds to facilitate reducing our carbon footprint… a challenge posed by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM), and heartily embraced by our Environmental Concerns Committee and Monthly Meeting.
This week we learned that PYM will contribute some funding. Thanks to Rob Smith and all who contributed to that PYM grant application!
In addition, donations of any size to this effort help unlock an additional $50,000 matching grant!

GATHERING OF FRIENDS – FRIENDS GENERAL CONFERENCE: STILL TIME TO REGISTER
When & Where? July 7 – 12, 2026 in Burlington, VT
What is The Gathering? Friends come together from across North America (and sometimes further) to deepen connection to one another and the Spirit. Gathering attenders range from newborns to elders in their nineties and include both long-time Friends (mostly from the unprogrammed, liberal tradition), and those newer to the Quaker faith. In structure, it’s part conference and part family camp. In content, it provides an abundance of opportunities to learn about Quakerism, foster spiritual life, and to have fun.

SILENT HIKE IN THE WISSAHICKON
(Now Postponed ...)
When? Sunday, June 7, 6:15 - 8:15pm
Where? Meeting at Crefeld Street Trailhead (8900 Crefeld Street)
Join Trail Ambassadors Pat Jacona and Margaret Kinnevy on a silent hike along the Lavender Trail. Focus your mind and body as we silently walk some of the most beautiful trails in the park. This peaceful experience, while the sun is low on the horizon, will culminate in a view of the sun setting over the creek (weather permitting, of course). There will also be time to connect with your fellow hikers. This will be a moderately paced fitness hike of 4 miles with a good stretch of rocky terrain. Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.

When? Wednesday, June 10, 5:00-9:00pm (rain date Weds 6/17)
Where? 7100 & 7200 blocks of Germantown Avenue
Mt Airy CDC’s signature outdoor event, is back again for 2026, with 4 monthly events this summer (June - Sept)!
This stretch of Germantown Avenue will be closed to cars, trucks and buses, and Mt. Airy’s historic commercial corridor is opened to the people. Patrons can order from their favorite eateries and sit down to enjoy their food at communal tables arranged across the Belgian blocks and trolley tracks of Germantown Avenue.
