THIS SUNDAY!! ☀️🌷 GMM ANNUAL POTLUCK PORCH PICNIC!! ☀️🌷When? This Sunday, June 1, after the rise of Meeting Where? On our meeting house porch Time to dig up and bring your favorite picnic dishes to share with a crowd! Let’s fill that picnic buffet table with a bounty of delicious picnic delights! Your mom’s secret potato salad recipe? Pasta salad with fresh spring veggies? Pick up a bucket of fried chicken? Fruit? Who brings that platter of deviled eggs each year? Are you the one who brings pulled pork for sandwiches? The more the merrier (& yummier)! You can bring your food to the Meeting kitchen before worship, and we will be put on the buffet table. Please stay after worship, as we gather to welcome summer fellowship, including fun activities for children! The forecast says it may be overcast but no rain! All are welcome! | ||

GFS ALUMNI – NPR Tiny Desk Concert featuring Madison McFerrin ‘10Madison McFerrin ‘10, an accomplished vocalist and musician, recently performed for NPR’s popular “Tiny Desk Concert” series! While an Upper School student at GFS, Madison (the daughter of iconic American singer/songwriter, Bobby McFerrin), was part of GFS A Cappella for three years. Check out her Tiny Desk set, including a single, “I Don’t,” from her forthcoming album, “Scorpio.” | ||

JOIN A “REACH-OUT” FOR PEACE IN CHESTNUT HILLWhen? Saturday, May 31 , 10 am – 12 pm Where? In Chestnut Hill next to the "Welcome to Chestnut Hill" sign, near the well-traveled intersection at Cresheim Lane & Germantown Avenue (across from the Peace Park and Saturday Farmers Market). Our democracy is being crushed by Trump. Justice, hope, and peace need the recurring voices of people. This monthly demonstration calls for peace, justice, and restoring our hope. Peace flags, large banners, and signs are provided, with bell-tolling and readings on justice and peace.

NAVIGATING THE UNEXPECTED: STREET SKILLS FOR CROWDSWhen? Sunday, June 1, 2:00 - 5:00pm Where? Friends Center (1601 Cherry Street) In this experiential training in street skills for crowds, we’ll sink our teeth into a variety of scenario examples and explore how to navigate complex situations, including marshal skills beyond one on one deescalation, managing large groups in emergent street scenarios, and shifting risk assessments. Develop your ability to assess, reflect, and make informed decisions in real-time, building resilience and skill in seeing the people around you as a resource. Participants will leave with skills to marshal for a variety of marches and actions. This training will be led by trainers from Earth Quaker Action Team, Jewish Voice for Peace Philadelphia, and New Town Friends Meeting and is hosted by Central Philadelphia Friends Meeting. | ||

Sunday, June 1, 7:00 - 8:30pm on Zoom Quaker Call to Action will be having a national zoom call with Daniel Hunter, Founder of ChooseDemocracy.us. Daniel Hunter, a Quaker and colleague of George Lakey, is one of the foremost thinkers and trainers in the field of nonviolent direct action campaigns, particularly in resisting and preventing autocratic takeovers. He has trained pro-democracy movements in Burma/Myanmar, Thailand, India, and many other places. | ||
